Mid-September the consultants visited from Chicago to complete fieldwork and meet with several focus groups.

They toured each of the National Register of Historic Places Districts in town, surveyed properties downtown, and made note of key issues and opportunities that could be addressed in the guidelines.

The Lakota Group consultants also met with some city department heads, the Mayor, and 5 focus groups. Focus groups included: residents (owners of historic and non-historic properties), realtors, contractors/tradespeople, non-profits, and business owners. Each of these groups provided vital feedback that will be integrated into the final design guidelines project. Other opportunities to assist with this project will be offered in early 2022!
